According to new U.S. Census Bureau population estimates, Middle Tennessee has continued to see significant population growth over the past five years, with suburban counties surrounding Nashville leading the way. Rutherford County recorded the largest increase, adding nearly 45,000 new residents, a gain of more than 13%. Other counties like Davidson, Montgomery, Wilson, Williamson, and Sumner also saw tens of thousands of new residents move in during this time period.

Why it matters

This influx of new residents is putting pressure on housing, infrastructure, and public services in these fast-growing communities.
