Why it matters
This case highlights the complex nature of missing persons investigations, especially when they become entangled with violent crimes across state lines. The discovery of the body on the Cumberland River bank provides some closure, but also raises new questions about the circumstances surrounding the suspect's disappearance and death.
The details
On the night of March 13, a KSP Post 1 lieutenant spotted an abandoned 2018 red Dodge Charger on the shoulder of the I-24 Cumberland River bridge. With no one found in or around the vehicle, troopers contacted Metro Nashville Police Department and asked officers to check on the registered owner at a Nashville address. What MNPD found there set off a multistate investigation — a deceased woman inside the home. Working together, KSP Post 1 and the MNPD Homicide Unit identified Darrion M. Young as a murder suspect and concluded he had likely been driving the vehicle abandoned on the bridge.
