Joyce Crawley Brown, a longtime educator in western Kentucky, passed away peacefully at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah on March 16, 2026 at the age of 78. Brown taught a variety of subjects including math, biology, and her first love, English, during her 27-year teaching career in Mayfield, Christian County, and Marshall County. After retiring, she continued to teach homebound students in Marshall County for seven additional years.

Brown was known for her lively presence in the classroom, keeping her students in line with a bit of flair while ensuring they learned their lessons.
