The NBA All-Star break is over, and the final quarter of the season is about to begin. As some teams look to the future, several young players could see increased playing time and fantasy value. Day'Ron Sharpe of the Brooklyn Nets, Ty Jerome of the Memphis Grizzlies, and Kyle Filipowski of the Utah Jazz are among the top waiver wire adds for the second half of Week 17.
Why it matters
With the playoffs out of reach for some teams, they will start to focus on developing their young talent rather than chasing wins. This creates opportunities for fantasy managers to find late-season gems on the waiver wire who could provide valuable production down the stretch.
The details
Day'Ron Sharpe has been excellent when given increased run for Brooklyn, and he could see that down the stretch of the 2025-26 campaign. Ty Jerome continues to offer monster production in limited minutes for the rebuilding Grizzlies, while Kyle Filipowski should see a ton of playing time for the tanking Jazz with Jaren Jackson Jr. out for the season. Other players like Nique Clifford of the Kings, Brice Sensabaugh of the Jazz, and Scoot Henderson of the Trail Blazers are also worth considering on the waiver wire.
- The NBA will tip off for the final quarter of the 2025-26 season on Thursday, February 16, 2026.
- Sharpe has averaged 10.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals across 20.4 minutes over his last 12 games.
The players
Day'Ron Sharpe
A center for the Brooklyn Nets who has shown promise when given increased playing time, and could see more opportunities down the stretch of the season as the Nets focus on player development.
Ty Jerome
A guard for the Memphis Grizzlies who has been producing at a high level in limited minutes, and should continue to see a larger role as the Grizzlies rebuild.
Kyle Filipowski
A forward for the Utah Jazz who is expected to see significant playing time for the rest of the season with Jaren Jackson Jr. out and the Jazz focused on tanking.
What they’re saying
“Sharpe has lottery ticket value, but he's been steady enough as of late that adding him isn't a major gamble. Grabbing him off the waiver wire early could prove highly beneficial down the final stretch of the season.”
— Zak Hanshew, Fantasy Basketball Analyst (nbcsports.com)
“Ty Jerome continues to offer monster production in limited minutes, and due to his excellent play, this will surely be the last week I can mention him in this column before he's no longer widely available.”
— Zak Hanshew, Fantasy Basketball Analyst (nbcsports.com)
What’s next
The Celtics and Lakers will face off on Sunday, February 19, 2026 at 6 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
The takeaway
With the playoffs out of reach for some teams, the final stretch of the NBA season presents opportunities for fantasy managers to find valuable young players on the waiver wire who could provide production and upside down the home stretch.
