Free Tax Prep Service Available Starting January 30

The United Way's South Central Tennessee offices is offering free tax filing services through their VITA program, an IRS-supported tax preparation service that connects community members with eligible credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The VITA program will be available at locations across the region beginning January 30.

The details
During the 2025 VITA program, more than 2,300 tax returns were completed with a total economic impact of over $3.2 million in the region. This year, in-person appointments will be available in Fayetteville, McMinnville, Murfreesboro, Shelbyville, Smyrna, Tullahoma, and Woodbury. Individuals can currently sign up for VITA appointments online.
