No. 19 Tennessee baseball (13-4) defeated Tennessee Tech (7-9) in a midweek matchup at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville. The Vols took care of business, winning the game by a comfortable margin to close out their non-conference schedule before heading to Athens to face Georgia this weekend.
Why it matters
After a disappointing series finale loss to Wright State last weekend, Tennessee was looking to bounce back and build some momentum heading into SEC play. This win over Tennessee Tech gives the Vols a confidence boost and allows them to enter their series against Georgia on a high note.
The details
Tennessee starting pitcher Taylor Tracey turned in a strong outing, going 6.1 innings and allowing just one run on two hits while striking out nine Golden Eagles batters. The Vols' offense provided plenty of run support, paced by a big day from third baseman Henry Ford, who drove in multiple runs.
- The game was played on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. ET in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The players
Taylor Tracey
Tennessee's starting pitcher, a freshman left-hander, who had a dominant performance on the mound.
Henry Ford
Tennessee's third baseman, who led the Vols' offense with a productive day at the plate.
Tennessee Tech
The visiting team, the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, who came into the game with a 7-8 record on the season.
What they’re saying
“We needed a bounce-back win after a tough series finale against Wright State, and the guys came out focused and ready to play today. Taylor did a great job on the mound, and the offense stepped up when we needed it.”
— Josh Elander, Tennessee Head Coach (Tennessee Athletics)
What’s next
Tennessee will now travel to Athens, Georgia to take on the Georgia Bulldogs in a three-game SEC series this weekend.
The takeaway
Tennessee's win over Tennessee Tech was an important bounce-back victory that should give the Vols momentum and confidence heading into their first SEC series of the season against Georgia.
