Kingsport's MeadowView Task Force held its second meeting on Thursday night at Kingsport City Hall. The meeting included task force members, MeadowView staff, and city leaders. Ramona Jackson, the general manager of MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center, presented background information about the facility and its performance, including a SWOT analysis. The task force also discussed concerns about transportation for guests and how Visit Kingsport helps market the facility.

Why it matters

The MeadowView Task Force was created by the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Alderman to review the historical and current use of the facility, its financial and operational performance, barriers to community access and local use, as well as the mission of the city-owned portion of MeadowView. This meeting is part of the ongoing effort to evaluate the future of this important community asset.

The details

During the meeting, Ramona Jackson, the general manager of MeadowView, presented an organizational chart that broke down the city and Eastman's expenses, as well as what is shared between the two entities. She also presented a SWOT analysis of the facility from her perspective. Jackson discussed how MeadowView's leadership headcount, hourly rate of pay, and utility costs have changed over the past six years. Task force member Jaime Joaquin raised concerns about transportation for guests to and from the hotel, as it is set apart from downtown entertainment. Kingsport City Manager Chris McCartt said the facility was designed to be more like a "mountain resort," set apart from some of those things. Lara Potter and Frank Lett of Visit Kingsport talked about how their organization helps market the facility, including bringing athletic events, state associations, and dog shows to MeadowView.

  • The meeting was held on Thursday night.
  • The Kingsport Board of Mayor and Alderman approved the task force at a December 2025 meeting.
