The #2 seed Austin Peay State University (APSU) men's basketball team begins its ASUN Tournament stay with a Friday 4:00pm CT contest against #10 seed Stetson at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. APSU enters the tournament after sharing the regular-season title with Central Arkansas and earning the program's highest ASUN seed at #2. The Governors are led by Second Team All-ASUN Rashaud Marshall, ASUN Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-ASUN Collin Parker, and ASUN Freshman of the Year Zyree Collins.
Why it matters
This is a crucial matchup for the APSU men's basketball team as they look to advance in the ASUN Tournament for the second time in program history. The Governors are seeking their first conference tournament championship since winning five titles in the Ohio Valley Conference. A win would put APSU in the semifinals, where they would face the winner of #6 West Georgia and #3 Queens.
The details
Austin Peay (21-8, 15-3 ASUN) enters the tournament as the #2 seed, the highest in program history since joining the ASUN. The Governors are led by Second Team All-ASUN Rashaud Marshall, ASUN Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-ASUN Collin Parker, and ASUN Freshman of the Year Zyree Collins. APSU swept the regular-season series against Stetson (12-20, 7-11 ASUN), winning 73-65 at home on January 23 and 81-69 on the road on January 10.
- The ASUN Tournament quarterfinal matchup between #2 APSU and #10 Stetson will tipoff at 4:00pm CT on Friday, March 6, 2026.
- APSU last appeared in the ASUN Tournament in 2025, when they earned a win against North Florida in the opening round before falling to North Alabama in the quarterfinals.
The players
Rashaud Marshall
A Second Team All-ASUN selection who led APSU in scoring against Bellarmine with a career-high 35 points in the regular-season finale.
Collin Parker
The ASUN Newcomer of the Year and a First Team All-ASUN selection, the first such honors for a Governor in program history. He is the only player in the ASUN to rank top 15 in points, rebounds, and assists per game.
Zyree Collins
The ASUN Freshman of the Year and a unanimous All-Freshman Team selection, as well as a Third Team All-ASUN honoree. He leads all ASUN freshmen in scoring, assists, and steals.
What they’re saying
“We must continue to play with the same energy and focus that got us to this point. Stetson is a tough opponent, but we're confident in our abilities and ready for the challenge.”
— Corey Gipson, Head Coach, APSU Men's Basketball (APSU Sports Information)
What’s next
With a win against Stetson, the APSU Governors will advance to the ASUN Tournament semifinals, where they would face the winner of #6 West Georgia and #3 Queens on Saturday at 6:00pm CT.
The takeaway
The APSU men's basketball team has an opportunity to make a deep run in the ASUN Tournament and potentially earn the program's first conference tournament championship since their Ohio Valley Conference titles. Led by a talented trio of All-ASUN performers, the Governors are poised to build on their regular-season success and make a statement in the postseason.
