The new Split Rock Ag Services storefront in Garretson aims to provide a convenient one-stop shop for both in-town and rural residents, with a focus on locally-sourced products.Garretson TodaySplit Rock Ag Services has opened its full storefront in Garretson, South Dakota after nine months of construction. The new supply store, founded by longtime employees of Central Valley Dairy Supply, carries a variety of home and farm items like animal feed, grilling supplies, hardware, and veterinary products. The owners aimed to source as many products as possible from local South Dakota sellers and producers.
Why it matters
The opening of Split Rock Ag Services provides a convenient one-stop shop for both in-town and rural residents of Garretson, preventing the need to travel to larger box stores for immediate household and agricultural needs. The store's focus on supporting local suppliers also aligns with the community-oriented values of the region.
The details
Split Rock Ag Services was founded by Danny Lyons, Jason Williamson, and Cidney Lyons, who previously worked at Central Valley Dairy Supply. They partnered with CVDS owner Rod Tillma to launch the new standalone business in late 2024. After operating out of CVDS's building, they built a new dedicated storefront space by razing an old metal storage building. This allowed them to set up a full retail showroom and have extra storage and operations capabilities for both CVDS and Split Rock Ag Services.
- Split Rock Ag Services opened its storefront with a soft launch on March 30, 2026.
- The official grand opening is likely to happen this summer, after the local farming community is back out of the fields.
