Mercer County Food Bank to Host Food Drive

Shoppers encouraged to donate needed items at local grocery stores

Mercer County Food Bank is inviting the community to help fight hunger during the Fill Carts, Fill Hearts food drive at several grocery stores throughout Mercer County. The drive will kick off on Friday in recognition of Good Samaritan's Day and continue through the weekend.

Shoppers can donate items at collection sites at D'Onofrio's Food Center, Giant Eagle, and Walmart locations in Hermitage, as well as County Market in Grove City. The most-needed items include canned vegetables, soups, tuna, peanut butter and jelly, pasta, rice, cereal, and canned fruit. Non-food items such as detergent, toothpaste, toilet paper, diapers, soap, and shampoo will also be accepted. Donors can also contribute financially by scanning a QR code at the collection sites.
