What they’re saying

“It was really fun to watch this year. She really diversified her game throughout the year. She really adapted being part of our transition game and I think that was a big reason for a lot of her productivity. She was running the floor, trailing the break and getting a lot of opportunities that way. And there was the effortlessness of it, too. After a game, you'd be like, 'Addison had 20, 25,' but the book would tell you she had 40.”

— Corey Gesford, Mountain View coach

“Not a lot of girls get that, so it definitely is an amazing feeling and I'm so beyond grateful. It's like a dream to get and I'm proud of myself.”

— Cora Castellani, Valley View junior

“It definitely is a great accolade to achieve. There's a lot of great girls in our class. Definitely a lot of credit to my teammates. I couldn't have got it without them. To come into the season with a group of five new girls starting on the floor, we worked super hard and definitely knew we could make it as far as we did.”

— Chloe Mamera, Scranton Prep sophomore

The takeaway

The all-state selections of Kilmer, Castellani, and Mamera showcase the exceptional talent and dedication of high school girls basketball players in the Lackawanna League, cementing the region's reputation as a hotbed for the sport.
