The Los Angeles Rams hold the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, their highest selection since taking Jared Goff with the first overall pick in 2016. While some believe the team could trade up into the top 10, Rams GM Les Snead said they are more likely to trade back from the No. 13 pick than move up.
Why it matters
The Rams haven't picked this high in the draft in quite some time, so they are understandably excited to see who they can add with the selection. However, the team has already addressed its needs in free agency, so they are in a position to select the best available player rather than targeting a specific position.
The details
Snead said the team is more likely to trade back from the No. 13 pick than move up, as the price point to trade up could be too high. He also downplayed the possibility of the Rams trading the pick for a veteran player, similar to how they acquired Trent McDuffie from the Chiefs earlier this offseason.
- The 2026 NFL Draft is taking place in Pittsburgh, Pa., from April 23-25.
The players
Les Snead
The general manager of the Los Angeles Rams.
Jared Goff
The quarterback the Rams selected with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Aaron Donald
A future Hall of Famer the Rams selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Matthew Stafford
The Rams' starting quarterback in 2026.
Jimmy Garoppolo
The Rams' backup quarterback for the past two seasons, who is now an unrestricted free agent.
What they’re saying
“I think, if I were being realistic, more than likely we don't move up, because the price point to move up, depending on how the thing goes, you always go, can you as you go in your situation. If it's, oh, some of the players that come in right now, they're gone, maybe you could move back. That would be the strategy, collect more picks if that's a possibility. And then I would say also, I doubt we use that for a veteran player. We've kind of saved that pick because it is 13. We haven't picked this low, high, whatever you want to call it, in the lot. So that's where we're at.”
— Les Snead, General Manager, Los Angeles Rams
What’s next
The Rams will make their selection with the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which takes place from April 23-25 in Pittsburgh.
The takeaway
The Rams are in a unique position with the 13th overall pick, as it's their highest selection since taking Jared Goff first overall in 2016. While they could explore trading up, GM Les Snead has indicated they are more likely to trade back and collect additional picks, as they have already addressed their key needs in free agency.
