DATAMARK Technologies, a leader in interoperable solutions for public safety location services, has announced a partnership with Jefferson County Schools in West Virginia to connect local 9-1-1 centers to school campuses using its indoor mapping technology, INSIDE. The project will involve collecting indoor data for 19 schools across the county, covering more than 1 million square feet, and creating highly accurate indoor maps that will be securely shared with 9-1-1 centers.

Why it matters

This partnership aims to improve emergency preparedness and response by providing first responders with detailed, real-time information about school layouts and critical locations. As federal and state legislation increasingly requires K-12 schools to share digital indoor maps with first responders, this integration of indoor mapping technology is revolutionizing school safety.

The details

As part of the project, DATAMARK Technologies will collect indoor data for 19 schools across Jefferson County, including Washington High School, Shepherdstown Middle School, and South Jefferson Elementary. This data will be used to create highly accurate indoor maps of each campus, which will then be securely shared with 9-1-1 centers through DATAMARK's INSIDE solution. First responders will be able to access these maps directly through their existing applications, providing them with a 360-degree view of every hallway, classroom, and critical location within the schools.
