Vandals Target Portland Auto Shop Co-Owned by SW Washington Democrat

It's the second time in two weeks that taggers have targeted U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez.

Someone vandalized the Portland auto-shop co-owned by U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, splashing graffiti targeting the southwest Washington Democrat. The post claimed responsibility for spray-painting 'Dean's Wife Funds Ice' on one side of the building and said antifascists 'drenched the storefront in bright orange with paintbombs'.

Why it matters

Gluesenkamp Perez was one of only seven House Democrats to vote for a bill last month that featured $10 billion in funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, making her a target of Democrats' left flank, though it could be less of a liability in her own purple-hued district.

The details

The vandalism occurred at Dean's Car Care, 1506 N.E. Lombard St., sometime on late Friday or early Saturday, according to a Portland Police Bureau spokesperson and an anonymous report issued on an anarchist blog. There was little sign of the vandalism when a photojournalist visited the premises Tuesday, though it appeared several patches of exterior wall had been freshly painted.
