Oregon State Police arrested two drivers in Umatilla County on February 19th for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII). The first driver, Leonel Carrillo Angel, was stopped for reckless driving and speeding nearly 40 mph over the limit. The second driver, Cameron Robert Jennings, was stopped for driving the wrong way on a street in Pendleton. Both drivers were arrested and cited for DUII.
Why it matters
Impaired driving continues to be a major public safety concern in Oregon, with DUII arrests and crashes remaining high despite education and enforcement efforts. The details
In the first incident, an Oregon State Police trooper stopped Leonel Carrillo Angel, 25, of Irrigon, for reckless driving and speeding near Highway 395 and Highway 730. The trooper observed signs of impairment, and Angel refused a field sobriety test. A 17-year-old passenger was also cited for minor in possession of alcohol. In the second incident, a trooper stopped Cameron Robert Jennings, 36, of Pendleton, for driving the wrong way on Southwest Emigrant Avenue in Pendleton. Jennings consented to a field sobriety test and breath test, which showed a blood alcohol level of 0.17%. He was cited and released for DUII.
