Collins was born on October 14, 1953 in Napoleon, Ohio to Freda Louise (Tyler) Long and Beldon Long. She was married to David Lynn Collins, who passed away in 2009. Collins is survived by her partner Aaron Slate, four daughters, two sons, 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several siblings.
