The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education is sponsoring free STEM Summer Academies at 12 colleges and universities across the state in May, June, and July 2026. The 16 unique academies, ranging from 4 days to 2 weeks, allow upcoming 8th through 12th graders to experience hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math through classroom activities, outdoor experiments, and field trips to companies and research facilities.

Why it matters

These STEM Summer Academies aim to spark students' interest and confidence in pursuing STEM education and careers, which are essential for driving innovation and economic growth in Oklahoma. By providing this free opportunity for middle and high schoolers to explore STEM on college campuses, the state hopes to encourage more students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to consider higher education and STEM-related fields.
