Main Street Sports Group, the parent company of the regional sports network FanDuel Sports, has informed NBA and NHL teams that it will cease operations at the end of their respective 2026 seasons. The network, which emerged from bankruptcy in 2025 with financial troubles, has lost the rights to broadcast games for all of its MLB teams and is now winding down its operations with the NBA and NHL.

Why it matters

The shutdown of Main Street Sports Network will leave 20 NBA and NHL teams without a local broadcast partner, disrupting fan access to games and creating uncertainty around future media rights deals in those markets.

The details

Main Street Sports Group, formerly known as Diamond Sports Group, filed for bankruptcy in 2023 after taking on nearly $9 billion in debt to purchase 21 regional sports channels from Fox. The company emerged from bankruptcy in 2025 but continued to face financial difficulties, missing payments to teams and eventually losing all of its MLB broadcast rights. With no new investor emerging, Main Street Sports is now preparing to wind down operations at the conclusion of the current NBA and NHL seasons.
