Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt was easily reelected to a third four-year term on Tuesday, defeating challenger Matthew Pallares. Holt received over 86% of the vote with 105 of 279 precincts reporting. Holt was first elected mayor in 2018 and previously won reelection in 2022.
Why it matters
Holt's reelection continues a string of successes for the mayor, including the recent passage of a $2.7 billion general obligation bond package and the approval of a $1 billion publicly owned arena that will serve as the new home of the OKC Thunder. Holt has identified transportation as a key focus area for his third term.

Holt, 46, will serve a third four-year term as OKC mayor. He was first elected in 2018 and previously won reelection in 2022. OKC mayors are paid $24,000 per year and serve as one of the nine voting members of the OKC City Council. Holt also serves as dean of the Oklahoma City University School of Law.

The players
David Holt

Matthew Pallares
The 34-year-old challenger who ran against Holt in the 2026 mayoral election.
What they’re saying
“There's a lot to implement once you serve two terms. You get the ball rolling on a lot of things that you need to see through: finishing the MAPS projects, getting the $2.7 billion in core infrastructure started, and obviously seeing the arena through to its completion. That's the biggest project in city history by far. So that's slated to open in 2028, and the Summer Olympics are here in 2028, and that is obviously a major priority. Part of it is wanting to finish up what we started.”
— David Holt, Mayor of Oklahoma City (NonDoc)
What’s next
The election results will be officially approved by the State Election Board.
The takeaway
Mayor Holt's decisive reelection victory demonstrates continued public support for his leadership and vision for Oklahoma City. With major projects like the new arena and hosting the 2028 Olympics on the horizon, Holt will have the opportunity to build on his previous successes and further shape the city's future in his third term.
