Missouri State's Max Knight was named the national John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week by the College Baseball Foundation for his performance in the Bears' season-opening series at Louisiana. Knight batted .364 with a .500 on-base percentage while also throwing three shutout innings to earn the pitching victory on Saturday.
Why it matters
Knight is a versatile player who has excelled both at the plate and on the mound for Missouri State. This is his second career Olerud Award, and he was a finalist for the Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year in 2025, highlighting his status as one of the top two-way players in college baseball.
The details
In the series against Louisiana, Knight hit a home run in the ninth inning to help the Bears complete a comeback from a 10-3 deficit. It marked the eighth time in his Missouri State career that he has both pitched and hit a home run in the same game. Knight started at both designated hitter and left field, reaching base multiple times in all three contests and also stealing a base.

- The games he was recognized for were played from February 13-15, 2026.
