Endeavour, an infrastructure innovation company, has introduced Pact, a scalable hydrogen and solid-carbon co-production technology that enables affordable, continuous, clean power for AI data centers and other heavy industry. The revolutionary carbon-neutral energy system operates on natural gas and biomethane feedstocks and is cost-competitive with conventional fossil fuel sources. Pact separates hydrogen from the feedstock while sequestering carbon into pure graphite, creating a revenue-generating platform for advanced materials.
Why it matters
AI cloud providers require gigawatt-scale, 24/7 clean energy generation to meet the growing power demands of their data centers. Pact fills a critical gap by providing a low-carbon, scalable energy solution that can be rapidly deployed to power the infrastructure needed for the AI economy.
The details
Pact is a continuous-flow, closed-loop methane cracking system that co-produces hydrogen fuel and high-quality graphite. The system passes methane through a low-temperature, energy-efficient catalytic reactor that separates the hydrogen component and immediately sequesters the remaining carbon as solid graphite. The resulting hydrogen has a lower direct lifecycle greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint than electrolysis-based "green" hydrogen.
- Pact has been rigorously tested with manufacturing partner EBNER at their U.S. headquarters in Wadsworth, Ohio.
- Pact is now available exclusively through Endeavour's Edged Infrastructure platform.
The players
Endeavour
An infrastructure innovation company focused on redefining the built environment for the age of AI, with a focus on developing breakthrough technologies for data center infrastructure, cooling, and power.
Pact
Endeavour's scalable hydrogen and solid-carbon co-production technology that enables affordable, continuous, clean power for AI data centers and other heavy industry.
EBNER
A global, family-owned company and market leader in heat treatment facilities for the semi-finished metal products industry, specializing in the research, development, fabrication, installation and commissioning of heat treatment facilities.
Jakob Carnemark
CEO and Founder of Endeavour.
Juzer Jangbarwala
Inventor of the Pact system and Pact Chief Technology Officer.
What they’re saying
“There have been few low-carbon options that can be deployed quickly at the scale and cost needed for AI campuses and heavy industry. The Pact system fills that gap.”
— Jakob Carnemark, CEO and Founder of Endeavour
“This is an important milestone for the hydrogen industry. The Pact system dramatically reduces the environmental footprint of conventional fossil-based hydrogen and overcomes the scalability challenges of electrolysis-based systems.”
— Herbert Gabriel, Managing Director of EBNER
“Instead of storing carbon or releasing it into the atmosphere, Pact is creating the foundation for a carbon materials platform backed by a growing patent portfolio of clean chemical synthesis and functionalization technologies.”
— Juzer Jangbarwala, Pact Chief Technology Officer
What’s next
Pact is now available exclusively through Endeavour's Edged Infrastructure platform, with plans to scale the technology to support generator systems ranging from 5 MW to more than 1,000 MW.
The takeaway
Pact represents a breakthrough in providing affordable, scalable, and carbon-neutral energy to power the growing demands of the AI economy, while also creating new revenue streams through the production of high-value graphite and other carbon materials.
