Two Dayton men, Shaquan Barker and Armone Kinney, have been indicted on charges of Complicity to Commit Aggravated Robbery with a deadly weapon for an armed robbery of an Uber driver in Harrison Township last December. The suspects allegedly stole the driver's vehicle at gunpoint after requesting a ride to the Meadows of Catalpa neighborhood.

Why it matters

This case highlights the ongoing issue of violent crime and carjackings targeting rideshare drivers, which has become a growing concern in many urban areas. It also raises questions about public safety and the need for improved security measures to protect gig economy workers.

The details

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 6:56 p.m. on December 9, 2025 in the 4000 block of Indian Runn Drive in Harrison Township. The Uber driver reported that after picking up two riders, one of the passengers asked the driver to stop early, claiming he had dropped something under the seat. As the driver got out to help look, one of the men got into the driver's seat and attempted to drive away. The other man then pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot if the driver did not get out. The suspects then drove off in the stolen vehicle, but it was later located at an abandoned property using the car's tracking system. Both Barker and Kinney were arrested in Warren County following a chase in a stolen vehicle.
