The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced its 2026 Women's national Ballot for the John R. Wooden Award presented by Principal on Sunday. Ohio State sophomore guard Jaloni Cambridge was one of 15 individuals on the ballot, selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board as a candidate for the Wooden Award All America Team and Wooden Award Trophy, recognizing the Most Outstanding Women's College Basketball Player in the United States.
Why it matters
The Wooden Award is one of the most prestigious individual honors in women's college basketball, so Cambridge's inclusion on the national ballot is a significant recognition of her outstanding performance this season. As the Big Ten scoring champion, Cambridge has emerged as one of the top players in the country and her selection to the Wooden Award ballot further cements her status as a rising star in the sport.
The details
Cambridge has had a standout sophomore campaign, scoring in double figures in all 33 of Ohio State's games this season. She became the 40th player in program history to score 1,000 career points and has twice scored 25 or more points in three consecutive games, a feat last accomplished by former Buckeye great Kelsey Mitchell nearly a decade ago. Cambridge leads the Big Ten in scoring, free throws made per game, and ranks among the conference leaders in several other statistical categories.
- The Wooden Award National Ballot was announced on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
- Cambridge was previously named to the Preseason Wooden Award Watch List and Midseason Top 25 Watch List.
