Ohio State University is hosting its annual Sex Week, organized by the student group SASHA (Student Advocates for Sexual Health Awareness). The week-long event features a variety of informational panels and discussions, including new topics like polyamory and non-monogamy, as well as the returning "Kink 101" session led by sex educator Nathan Hammerle. The goal is to provide inclusive sexual health education that covers a range of topics often missing from traditional curricula.
Why it matters
Sex Week aims to fill gaps in sexual health education by covering topics like kinks, polyamory, and other forms of sexual and relationship diversity that are often stigmatized or misunderstood. The organizers hope to create a safe, judgment-free space for students to learn about these subjects and feel empowered to explore their sexuality.
The details
SASHA has collaborated with other campus groups like Sexual Assault Prevention & Survivor Support to put together over 20 events for Sex Week. The new polyamory and non-monogamy panel will feature firsthand accounts from people who identify that way, as well as insights from sex educators. The returning "Kink 101" session led by Nathan Hammerle will use demonstrations to teach about consent, safety, and the diversity of kink practices. All the events aim to provide a base-level understanding and dispel misconceptions.
- Sex Week takes place during the second week of February 2026.
- The "Kink 101" panel is scheduled for February 12, 2026 from 7-9 PM.

What they’re saying
“I've never learned about kinks in school or something, but that is something that's completely natural and so many people have them. We don't want people to feel strange or like their feelings are wrong.”
— Rebecca Handsman, Vice President, SASHA
“Not everything is everyone's cup of tea, but respect during the program is imperative.”
— Nathan Hammerle, Sex Educator and Kink Expert
“OSU's Sex Week is one that's special though. The only pushback I received is that it can't happen more often!”
— Nathan Hammerle, Sex Educator and Kink Expert
What’s next
The "Kink 101" panel led by Nathan Hammerle is scheduled for February 12, 2026 from 7-9 PM at the Ohio Union.
