With schools closed all week due to heavy snowfall, a local Clintonville bakery and event space, Mozart's, opened its doors to the community, providing free access to its ballroom space filled with LEGO sets, cartoons, hot cocoa, pastries, and pizza. The event was organized by owners Anand and Doris Saha as a way to give back to the neighborhood and let kids enjoy some snow day activities.
Why it matters
In a winter with extended school closures, the Sahas' decision to open up their bakery and event space provided a much-needed outlet for local families dealing with cabin fever. The event allowed kids to play, socialize, and have fun in a safe, warm environment during the snowy weather.
The details
Mozart's, located at 4784 N. High St., transformed its ballroom space into a winter wonderland for neighborhood kids. The space was filled with bins of LEGO sets that were part of owner Anand Saha's "Million LEGO for Kids" donation program, as well as cartoons playing on the big screen and complimentary hot cocoa, pastries, and pizza. Anand Saha said he wanted to do something for the community and "relive his own kids' childhood" during the school closures.
