Cleveland is expected to see a wet and chilly start to the week, with showers likely throughout Monday and the potential for rain mixing with or changing over to snow overnight as temperatures drop. A Small Craft Advisory has also been issued for parts of Lake Erie due to building waves.
Why it matters
The combination of rain, wind, and potential snow could impact travel conditions, especially along the lakefront and in the snowbelt regions. Boaters and inexperienced mariners are also being urged to exercise caution on the water.
The details
Monday will see mostly cloudy skies, with showers likely throughout the day and an afternoon high near 49°F. Rainfall amounts are expected to be generally under a tenth of an inch. A cold front moving through Monday night will send temperatures down into the upper 20s to low 30s, allowing rain to potentially mix with or change over to snow, especially in higher terrain areas of far eastern Erie County where an inch or two of accumulation on grassy and elevated surfaces is possible. Winds will also ramp up overnight, with gusts up to 26 mph.
