The Cleveland Browns have added two more coaches to new head coach Todd Monken's offensive staff, hiring Mike Bajakian as quarterbacks coach and bringing back Jeff Blasko as tight ends coach. Bajakian has over 30 years of coaching experience at both the college and NFL levels, including working with Monken in Tampa Bay. Blasko previously served on the Browns' staff in 2019 before spending five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

Why it matters

The Browns are undergoing a significant overhaul of their coaching staff under Monken, who was hired as the new head coach this offseason. Filling out the offensive coaching positions is a key priority as Monken looks to turn around the Browns' offense and get the most out of quarterback Deshaun Watson and the team's other offensive weapons.

The details

Bajakian most recently served as quarterbacks coach at Michigan State, while Blasko returns to Cleveland after being the assistant offensive line coach in 2019 and then spending five seasons with the Cowboys. The Browns have already added several other offensive assistants, including passing game coordinator Danny Breyer, offensive coordinator Travis Switzer, offensive analyst Ian Kolste, and offensive line coach Larry Warhop.

  • Bajakian accepted the quarterbacks coach role at Michigan State under new head coach Pat Fitzgerald.
  • Blasko was the assistant offensive line coach for the Browns in 2019 under head coach Freddie Kitchens.
  • Blasko spent the last five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys as assistant offensive line coach, run game coordinator, and running backs coach.
