Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene is scheduled to make his 2026 Spring Training debut on Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Greene, who is coming off a season where he was dominant when healthy but limited to just 19 starts and 107.2 innings, will be one of seven pitchers taking the mound for the Reds that day.
Why it matters
Greene is a key part of the Reds' rotation and a potential Cy Young contender if he can stay healthy and reach 25+ starts and 150+ innings this season. His Spring Training debut will be an important early look at his progress and development of a new two-seam fastball he's been working on this offseason.
The details
Greene is scheduled to pitch on Saturday, February 29th, along with six other Reds pitchers: Pierce Johnson, Lyon Richardson, Anthony Misiewicz, Darren McCaughan, Hagen Danner, and Davis Daniel. The game against the Brewers will be televised on Reds.TV and is set to start at 3:10 PM ET.

What they’re saying
“I set the same goals (this year). My approach is different. My mindset is different than the prior years. I have different ways to execute that and get to that accolade. I've been doing the white board since middle school. I've always been a visual learner and a visual person. To have that in my gym and look at it is important. It keeps the main thing the main thing.”
— Hunter Greene
What’s next
The Reds will be closely monitoring Greene's performance and health throughout Spring Training as he looks to build on his previous success and stay healthy for a full season.
The takeaway
Greene's Spring Training debut will be a key early indicator of his progress and development as the Reds look to him to anchor their rotation and potentially contend for a Cy Young award if he can stay healthy and reach his full potential this season.
