The Hive, a new 68,000-square-foot hospitality complex in Bainbridge, Ohio, has opened its doors, featuring a gourmet prepared foods market, a full-service restaurant called Timberfire, a speakeasy-style bar called The Woodshed, a one-screen cinema, and an event venue for weddings and large gatherings. The project is the culmination of a three-year transformation of the former Chagrin Cinemas property by owners Kimberly and Jimmy Gibson.
Why it matters
The Hive represents a significant investment in the Chagrin Falls community, revitalizing a former movie theater site into a multi-faceted destination for food, entertainment, and events. It showcases the Gibsons' commitment to their local roots, as the project expands on their existing Honey Bee prepared foods business that has served the area since 2009.
The details
The Hive's centerpiece is the Honey Bee gourmet market, which offers a wide selection of frozen heat-and-eat meals, fresh salads and entrees, wine, beer, and other specialty food products. The 245-seat Timberfire restaurant features a Western-inspired menu with dishes like fried provolone, braised beef nachos, and a two-pound grilled ribeye. The Woodshed speakeasy provides a posh bar experience, while the one-screen Screens cinema maintains the original Chagrin Cinemas layout with new family-friendly seating. The complex is anchored by a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen that supports all of the food and beverage operations.
- The Hive opened its doors in April 2026.
- Kimberly and Jimmy Gibson first established their Honey Bee prepared foods market in the same Chagrin Falls neighborhood in 2009.
