Scarsdale senior and Section 1 girls skimeister Stella Van Arsdale earned a medal, finishing ninth in girls slalom at the state skiing championships. This came a day after she took fifth in giant slalom. Four Section 1 boys also finished in the top 20, with Carmel's Alex Dudjak placing 12th, Yorktown's Jack Mooney 13th, Irvington's Harrison Gredick 16th, and Horace Greeley's Edward Yang 19th.

Van Arsdale was one of only 44 of 63 girls to successfully complete both slalom runs. She started 28th and had to ski a very rutty course due to previous skiers. Despite the challenging conditions, Van Arsdale was satisfied with her runs. The boys competition was also tough, with only 35 of 63 finishing both slalom runs.
