The new turf baseball field at McQuaid Jesuit High School will allow the school's students to more easily support the team's home games.Rochester TodayMcQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, New York has opened a brand-new turf baseball field dedicated to the school's former principal and alumni director, Father Richard Noonan. The Knights, who won the Section V, Class AAA championship last season, will now be able to host 12 home games on the new field this year, a significant increase from only being able to play one home game last season due to poor field conditions.
Why it matters
The new turf field gives the McQuaid baseball team a proper home venue to host games, allowing the school's students to more easily support the team without having to travel. This is a major upgrade from the team having to play most of its home games off-campus in recent years due to the poor condition of their previous field.
The details
The new field features a turf infield and outfield, and was made possible through donations from school supporters. The Knights beat Greece Athena 11-1 in their home opener on the new diamond.
- McQuaid opened its 2026 baseball season on the new field on April 7, 2026.
- The team only played one home game on campus last year.

What they’re saying
“We get to play 12 home games here this year, which is a big improvement from last year. Only playing one.”
— Ryan DeJoy, Team Captain
“Now we got a chance to bring a lot of our students out to support the guys on the field, as opposed to having to travel for games and just being able to walk out the back door to the school and watch a baseball game, whether it's, you know, 42 degrees like today.”
— Stephen Saluzzo, School President
“It's going to be an awesome season. Finally get to play some games here, not at MCC, not one game here.”
— Thomas Bailey, Team Captain
What’s next
The McQuaid baseball team will look to build on their Section V championship from last season and compete for another title on their new home field.
The takeaway
The new turf baseball field at McQuaid Jesuit High School represents a major upgrade for the school's baseball program, allowing the team to host the majority of its home games on campus and giving the school's students easier access to support the team. This investment in the team's facilities demonstrates the school's commitment to its athletic programs and the student-athlete experience.
