Tamboran's SS-6H Well Posts 11.9 MMcf/d IP20 Rate

The well delivered strong, stable performance and low decline characteristics, supporting upcoming gas sales.

Tamboran Resources Corporation announced that its Shenandoah South 6H (SS-6H) well in the Beetaloo Basin of Australia's Northern Territory achieved an average 20-day initial production (IP20) flow rate of 10.3 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d). On a normalized basis, the well achieved 11.9 MMcf/d per 10,000 feet, which compares favorably to the Marcellus Shale. The well demonstrated sustained, stable rates over the last five days of testing, similar to the company's previous SS-2H ST1 well.

Why it matters

The strong performance of the SS-6H well supports Tamboran's plans to commence gas sales to the Northern Territory gas network later this year. The company is now preparing to start its 2026 stimulation program, which includes completing three additional 10,000-foot wells required to deliver the ~40 MMcf/d under its Gas Sales Agreement.

The details

The SS-6H well was stimulated with 57 stages and a toe stage covering over 3,030 meters (9,943 feet) at an average of 50-60 meter (164-197 foot) interval spacing within the Mid Velkerri B Shale. During the 20-day production testing period, the well delivered a cumulative 205.6 MMcf of gas. Tamboran intentionally curtailed the flow test to avoid unnecessary flaring and preserve reservoir energy ahead of tie-in to the Sturt Plateau Compression Facility and gas sales.

  • The SS-6H well achieved an average IP20 flow rate from April 2 to April 22, 2026.
  • The 2026 stimulation campaign for the Shenandoah South 3H, 4H and 5H wells is planned to commence in the second quarter, with all three wells expected to be tied into the SPCF and brought into production during 3Q 2026.
