Digitally-enabled medtech supply chains leverage advanced analytics and automation to enhance recovery speed and financial performance during disruptions.NYC TodayA new Deloitte survey of 100 medtech executives across 15 countries finds that recovery speed is becoming a key differentiator, with digitally enabled supply chains associated with faster recovery times and better financial performance. The report highlights gaps in areas like governance, cybersecurity readiness, and end-to-end decision-making that are hindering many organizations' ability to bounce back quickly from disruptions.
Why it matters
Medtech supply chains face significant risks from disruptions that can quickly cascade across sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and distribution. The ability to respond faster with digital tools and coordinated decision-making can help medtech firms protect supply continuity and mitigate financial impacts during turbulent times.
The details
The survey found that only 27% of executives say their organizations can recover from disruptions within 2-4 weeks, while for most it takes several months. 48% remain in "incremental mode" without redesigning end-to-end decision-making, and only 43% have formalized governance structures. However, organizations using digitally enabled recovery are about 3 times more likely to report ≥4% operating margin improvement and nearly twice as likely to see ≥4% revenue growth compared to those relying on ad hoc recovery.
- The survey was conducted in November 2025.
- Deloitte expects medtech organizations to increase supply chain technology investment over the next 2 years.

What they’re saying
“Two-thirds of medtech organizations expect to increase supply chain technology investment over the next two years, but recovery speed still tends to lag when governance, data and decision-making aren't connected end to end.”

What’s next
The report suggests medtech organizations should focus on improving digital maturity, formalizing governance structures, and enhancing end-to-end decision-making capabilities to better prepare for and respond to future supply chain disruptions.
The takeaway
This research highlights the growing importance of digitally enabled supply chains as a competitive differentiator in the medtech industry, as firms with more mature digital capabilities demonstrate faster recovery times and stronger financial performance during periods of disruption.
