Leading New York City real estate development firm TF Cornerstone, in collaboration with nonprofit arts center Culture Lab LIC, has launched an open call inviting proposals for outdoor sculptures to be installed in the public courtyard along the Long Island City waterfront. This latest open call builds upon a successful prior public art initiative that established the site as a growing outdoor sculpture garden.

Why it matters

Public art plays a vital role in shaping how people experience and connect with the neighborhood. This initiative continues TF Cornerstone and Culture Lab LIC's investment in Long Island City's creative community and provides a highly-visible platform for artists to showcase their work in one of the most dynamic public spaces on the waterfront.

The details

The courtyard currently features three large-scale installations: Erwin List Sanchez's 'The Moose Spirit,' a life-size creature forged from 1,000 railroad spikes; Paul Maus's 'Confidence,' an abstracted female figure exploring societal pressures; and Kenny Greenberg's 'ART DREAM,' a handcrafted neon crossword-inspired sculpture. Selected sculpture(s) will be on loan for the duration of the exhibition, with an honorarium ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 awarded to the chosen artist(s).

  • The open call was launched on March 26, 2026.
  • The submission deadline is May 15, 2026.
