Karyna Shuliak, the last girlfriend of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, recently graduated from a postdoctoral dentistry program at Columbia University. Shuliak, who obtained her New York dentistry license in November, is seen laughing and smiling in a graduation video posted by the university. She was described as being staunchly loyal to Epstein and was set to inherit $100 million, a 32-carat engagement ring, and his properties, including his infamous "Pedo Island," in the will he signed two days before his death.
Why it matters
Shuliak's connection to Epstein and her inheritance from him have raised concerns about the university's ties to the disgraced financier. The video of her graduation also features a Columbia dental school official who was involved in helping Epstein get Shuliak admitted to the university's dental school in 2012, despite her initial rejection.
The details
In the graduation video, Shuliak is seen strolling across the stage and bursting out laughing after an awkward scene where dental school officials struggle to find her diploma. Shuliak completed a residency in advanced education in general dentistry at Columbia last spring, a program the university says is "designed to prepare dentists to practice independently." The video also features Dr. Thomas Magnani, one of the officials the university said it cut ties with after revelations about his connections to Epstein.
