BlackRock's new staked Ethereum exchange-traded fund, the iShares Staked Ethereum Trust (ETHB), saw $15.5 million in trading volume on its first day of trading on Thursday. While a solid debut, it trailed the $55.4 million and $33.7 million in volume seen by similar Solana staking ETFs that launched last year.

Why it matters

The launch of ETHB adds to BlackRock's growing crypto product lineup, which includes its flagship Bitcoin and Ethereum trust ETFs. The strong debut for ETHB signals continued institutional investor appetite for exposure to staked Ethereum, which offers a yield through network validation.

The details

ETHB invests 80% in staked Ether and 20% in Ether, with staking rewards distributed monthly. The fund is backed by $106.7 million in net assets and charges a 0.25% sponsor fee, reduced to 0.12% on the first $2.5 billion in assets. Staking is handled by Figment, Galaxy Digital, and Bitwise-owned Attestant.
