Bitcoin financial services company Strike has been granted a BitLicense and Money Transmitter License by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). The approvals authorize Strike to offer its suite of Bitcoin products and services to individuals and businesses across the state of New York.
Why it matters
The BitLicense and Money Transmitter License allow Strike to expand its Bitcoin-focused financial services, including buying and selling Bitcoin, paycheck direct deposits, recurring buys, and bill pay, to the large consumer and business market in New York, a global financial hub. As a regulated custodian, Strike must adhere to strict audits, capital requirements, and cybersecurity standards, providing New Yorkers with a high level of trust and accountability.
The details
With the new licenses, New York residents and businesses can now access Strike's comprehensive Bitcoin financial services platform, including buying and selling Bitcoin, converting paychecks to Bitcoin, setting price-triggered orders, automating recurring Bitcoin purchases, and paying bills directly from a Bitcoin balance. All Bitcoin and cash holdings are held 1:1 and customers can withdraw to cold storage at no cost.
