This Valentine's Day, Times Square in New York City will host two couples getting married and hundreds of others renewing their wedding vows as part of the annual 'Love in Times Square' event organized by the Times Square Alliance. The event has grown in popularity, with a record number of submissions this year from couples across the US and around the world hoping to profess their love in the heart of the city.

Why it matters

Times Square is known for its bright lights, bustling crowds, and iconic status as a global tourist destination. By hosting weddings and vow renewals there, the Times Square Alliance is transforming the landmark into a romantic setting and celebrating the power of love and community in the middle of one of the busiest public spaces in the world.

The details

The two couples getting married this year were selected from a record 56 submissions, while 40 couples applied to have their proposals take place under the Everest Digital sign. The 10-15 minute vow renewal ceremony is open to everyone, with the red steps of the TKTS booth able to accommodate around 500 people. The Times Square Alliance covers the cost of the site and an officiant, while sponsors provide gifts and special deals for the couples.
