Prime Video has announced the release date and released two teaser trailers for its upcoming live-action series "Spider-Noir" starring Nicolas Cage. The series, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television, will premiere globally on May 27, 2026 and will be available to watch in both black-and-white and color versions.

Why it matters

This marks Nicolas Cage's first leading TV role as he reprises the character he originally voiced in the 2018 Oscar-winning animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse". The series is based on the Marvel comic "Spider-Man Noir" and will offer viewers a unique viewing experience with the dual black-and-white and color options.

The details

The series finds Cage starring as Ben Reilly, "a seasoned, down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city's one and only superhero." The show is being developed by the team behind "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse", including Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, who are all serving as executive producers. Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer helmed and executive produced the first two episodes, while Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot are the co-showrunners.
