The 2026 lineup won't be announced until April, but the festival has teased that it will feature shows in all five boroughs, including from artists native to those areas, as well as special performances from acts who have graced the SummerStage over the past four decades. The details
SummerStage was launched in 1986 with a performance by cosmic jazz pioneer Sun Ra at the Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park. Over the past four decades, the festival has hosted a wide range of artists, from Joan Baez and Stevie Wonder to Public Enemy and Sonic Youth. In 2025, SummerStage presented 70 concerts across New York City, some free and some benefit shows. For the 40th anniversary in 2026, the festival will feature special performances from artists who have played SummerStage over the years, as well as showcases from musicians native to each of the five boroughs.
