New Rochelle Opera has announced the principal cast for its upcoming concert version of Giuseppe Verdi's opera 'Nabucco,' scheduled for May 15 and May 17, 2026 at The Ursuline School in New Rochelle. The production will feature a talented lineup of soloists, including Jason Detwiler as Nabucco, Christina Major as Abigaille, Jeremy Brauner as Ismaele, Brandon Coleman as Zaccaria, and Michelle Detwiler as Fenena, under the baton of Maestro Jason Tramm.
Why it matters
Nabucco is considered one of Verdi's most recognized works, known for the iconic chorus 'Va, pensiero' and its themes of exile, faith, redemption and liberation. The concert performances will allow the audience to focus on the powerful music and soaring vocals of the principal cast and chorus.
The details
Presented in concert format, the performances will showcase the orchestra, chorus and soloists, without the full staging of a traditional opera production. Maestro Jason Tramm, the artistic and general director of New Rochelle Opera, said the performances will 'remind us that even in moments of exile and uncertainty, hope can rise in breathtaking harmony.'
