Skin care entrepreneur Peter Thomas Roth said in a social media post that he regrets having any association with Jeffrey Epstein after leaving high school, where Epstein had been his physics teacher. Roth said he visited Epstein's Manhattan residence once to show him some skin care products, but was never present for any inappropriate activity, never attended his parties, never flew on his plane, and never traveled to his private islands.
Why it matters
Multiple prominent figures have been named in documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender and disgraced financier who died in 2019 while awaiting sex trafficking charges. The Justice Department recently published over 3 million pages of Epstein-related material under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
The details
Roth said in his statement that Epstein was his physics teacher when he was 17 and in the 12th grade at the Dalton School in New York City. Roth noted that he had stayed in touch with Epstein casually over the nearly five decades since high school, but said he was "in disbelief" and "gravely mistaken" about Epstein's crimes, and that he "deeply regrets maintaining any association with him after leaving the Dalton School."
