Nevada Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford has launched a new district-wide initiative called 'Congressman on the Job' that will place him directly at worksites throughout Nevada's 4th Congressional District. Horsford plans to spend time alongside employees to better understand the day-to-day challenges facing working families, including rising costs, supply chain issues, and the impact of federal policies.
Why it matters
This initiative aims to give Horsford firsthand experience with the struggles of workers and businesses in his district, which he can then bring back to Washington when debating policies that affect wages, the cost of goods, and access to healthcare.
The details
As part of the 'Congressman on the Job' series, Horsford will visit with grocery clerks, restaurant employees, warehouse workers, healthcare workers, and other essential employees to hear directly from both workers and employers about the pressures they face. The goal is to go beyond traditional public appearances and truly 'walk a mile in their shoes'.
- The 'Congressman on the Job' series has already begun and will continue over the coming months.

A Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Nevada's 4th Congressional District.
What they’re saying

— Rep. Steven Horsford
“This isn't about a photo opportunity. It's about listening, learning and walking a mile in their shoes.”
— Rep. Steven Horsford
What’s next
Horsford's office says the 'Congressman on the Job' series will continue over the coming months, with the congressman visiting additional worksites across the district to meet directly with workers and small business owners.
The takeaway
By directly engaging with workers and businesses in his district, Congressman Horsford aims to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing his constituents, which he can then use to inform his policymaking in Washington and better advocate for the needs of working families.
