The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) will be closing the Sunset Road on-ramp to the southbound Airport Connector overnight next week as part of an ongoing pavement rehabilitation project. The closure is scheduled from 11 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 to 8 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, and nightly lane reductions will continue until Monday, April 13.

Why it matters

The Airport Connector is a critical transportation link in the Las Vegas area, providing access to the city's international airport. These overnight closures and lane reductions will impact traffic flow and cause delays for drivers, especially those traveling to and from the airport.

The details

During the closure and lane reductions, drivers will be detoured to continue west on Sunset Road to southbound Las Vegas Boulevard and access the Airport Connector via Interstate 215 connections. Sunset Road will also be reduced to one lane in each direction between Eastern Avenue and Annie Oakley Drive. The Pilot Drive and Grier Drive bridges over the Airport Connector will be reduced to one side of the bridge, with both directions of traffic sharing the open side. The Sunset Road bridge over Airport Connector will have intermittent double lane closures of left or right lanes.

  • The closure is scheduled from 11 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, to 8 a.m. Wednesday, April 8.
  • Nightly lane reductions will continue from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. until Monday, April 13.
  • No work will take place on Friday or Saturday evenings.
