Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of its new eArocs 400 electric truck, designed specifically for urban and near-road construction work. The vehicle features two 207 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs and a powerful 380 kW continuous/450 kW peak electric drivetrain, providing a range of up to 240 km on a single charge.

Why it matters

The introduction of the eArocs 400 represents Mercedes' push to offer more sustainable, zero-emission solutions for the construction industry, which has historically relied heavily on diesel-powered trucks. As cities and governments enact stricter emissions regulations, electric trucks like the eArocs 400 will become increasingly important for construction fleets looking to reduce their environmental impact.

The details

The eArocs 400 features a battery tower design with the two LFP battery packs housed behind the cab, providing the necessary power and range for a full day of construction site operations without the need for intermediate charging. The electric drivetrain, integrated with a 3-speed transmission, delivers the required off-road capability and ground clearance for demanding construction environments. Production of the base vehicle will begin at Mercedes' Wörth am Rhein plant in the third quarter of 2026, with the electric drivetrain integration handled by Paul Group in Vilshofen an der Donau.
