The Southern Nevada Health District, Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, and Prevail Marketplace are partnering to bring pop-up produce stands back to the Bonneville Transit Center in downtown Las Vegas. The stands will be open on select Saturdays in April and May, offering affordable, regionally-grown fruits and vegetables to the community.
Why it matters
The program aims to improve access to healthy, affordable food and reduce food insecurity in Southern Nevada, a region that has struggled with these issues. The pop-up stands provide a convenient location and accept various payment methods, including SNAP/EBT, to make fresh produce more accessible.
The details
The pop-up produce stands will be open from noon to 3 p.m., or while supplies last, at the Bonneville Transit Center on April 7, April 14, May 5, and May 12. Shoppers can use SNAP/EBT, cash, debit or credit cards to purchase the fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. The Double Up Food Bucks program for SNAP users and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons will also be accepted. In addition to the produce, shoppers will receive nutrition education and other health resources.
