For the third year in a row, hundreds of people of all abilities gathered in Las Vegas for the 'Dazzle Prom,' a special Valentine's Day weekend event that celebrates love, friendship, and diversity. The City of Las Vegas sponsors the event, which is supported by local officials, community organizations, and small businesses.
Why it matters
The Dazzle Prom provides an inclusive and accessible space for people with diverse abilities to participate in a traditional prom experience, which can be difficult to find. The event helps foster a sense of community and belonging for attendees and their families.
The details
The Dazzle Prom was created by Kyle Meservey, who wanted to bring a local prom event to the northern part of the Las Vegas Valley. The City of Las Vegas sponsors the event, with support from Councilwoman Nancy Brune, Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske, the Just Serve Project, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Skye Canyon Stake opens its doors to host the prom, as well as provide spaces for movies, games, and quiet zones.
