The El Portal Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met in Clovis, New Mexico on March 14 with Regent Vicky Stratton presiding. The chapter discussed observing the America 250 Celebration, creating a basket for a silent auction at the state conference, and an upcoming Blackwater Draw Hands On History Day event. Members also highlighted their Revolutionary War patriot, Thomas Peden, who immigrated from Ireland in 1767 and served under Col. Roebuck and Gen. Pickens.

Pickens. Peden died in 1825 and is buried on the family homestead.
