Ewing's Lillie Alston and Lawrence's Marvin McNeill named Players of the Year

The Colonial Valley Conference (CVC) basketball coaches gathered for their 16th Annual CVC Basketball Association Banquet on Monday night at Mercer Oaks Golf Course. The event featured the announcement of the Players of the Year, Coaches of the Year, Official of the Year, Courage Award winners, and the Bryce Competitive Spirit Award winners.

Ewing senior guard Lillie Alston and Lawrence senior guard Marvin McNeill were named the Players of the Year. Alston led Ewing in scoring, steals, and 3-pointers, while McNeill paced Lawrence in scoring, 3-pointers, assists, and steals. The Coach of the Year awards went to West Windsor-Plainsboro South's Zak Kumor for the girls and co-winners Allentown's Walt Kelly and Trenton's Darryl 'Pup' Young for the boys. Several players were also recognized for reaching the 1,000-point milestone in their careers.

Lillie Alston

Ewing senior guard who was named the CVC Girls Player of the Year. She led Ewing in scoring, steals, and 3-pointers, and finished her career with 1,000 points, 353 rebounds, and 111 assists.

Marvin McNeill

Lawrence senior guard who was named the CVC Boys Player of the Year. He led Lawrence in scoring, 3-pointers, assists, and steals, and finished his career with 1,226 points, 300 rebounds, 178 assists, and 122 steals.

Zak Kumor

Head coach of the West Windsor-Plainsboro South girls basketball team, who was named the CVC Girls Coach of the Year after guiding the Pirates to their first winning season in 12 years.

Walt Kelly

Head coach of the Allentown boys basketball team, who was named a co-CVC Boys Coach of the Year after leading the Redbirds to an 11-15 record and a CVC Valley Division championship.

Darryl 'Pup' Young

Head coach of the Trenton boys basketball team, who was named a co-CVC Boys Coach of the Year after leading the Tornadoes to a 20-win season, the Colonial Division championship, and the CVC Tournament title.
