Chatham boys, girls win state swim titles again

The girls team held off Shawnee 93-77 to earn their third straight title, while the boys cruised past Moorestown 102-58 for their fifth consecutive championship.

The Chatham boys team won every event except backstroke, where Moorestown's Bobby Duffield and Ryan McMillan finished 1-2. Chatham seniors Brett Davis and Jack Kulp went 1-2 in the 200 freestyle, while juniors William von Doussa and Andrew O'Day did the same in the individual medley to help the Cougars build an early lead. The Chatham girls had a tougher time, as Shawnee freshman Samantha Gatesman won the 50 freestyle in a school record time and Shawnee's Ellie Walsh and Alaina Allbaugh-Heinz went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle. But Chatham was able to hold on for the 93-77 victory.
